Beef Quality Assurance is an incredibly important program to the beef industry. It is a nationally coordinated, state-implemented program that provides guidelines to U.S. beef producers and consumers on how to raise cattle under the best management conditions. This certification was designed to provide consumers with reassurance that they can take pride in what they purchase for their families. The BQA programs include good management practices around record keeping and herd health which yields more profit for the producer.
Let us first introduce ourselves as JaTanna Williams and Natalie Kovarik –the best friend duo behind Ranch Wives Beef Co. Together in the fall of 2017 with a little preparation and a whole lotta faith, we jumped feet first into the ranch direct beef business and began shipping our family raised beef to customers near and far. Why the new adventure? It’s simple, really. As ranch wives and mothers, we wanted to find something that would allow us to contribute to our daily operations while simultaneously spending more time out and about on the ranch with our husbands and kiddos. Out of that desire came RWBCo., a company built out of love and appreciation for all things food, family and ranching.
Next up in our EPD Blog series is Simmental cattle. We asked Hofmann Simmental Farms for their perspective on EPDs, what they look for, and for some more information on their operation. Our goal is to begin a discussion because we know that there is SO much information out there on EPDs and a lot of people can get lost. With this blog series we aim to bring different perspectives and spark conversation, let us know your thoughts!

This past week, the KRose team spent the week at the MT Angus Tour that was based out of Missoula! We saw some great operations, great cattle, and met some even better people. Here’s where we went!

Shipping day is arguably one of the biggest days of the year for ranchers. But depending on if you are a buyer, rancher, or representative, shipping day can look a little different. As a cattle buyer this is typically what my shipping day looks like:
We see you. We see how low the cattle market has been. We see how much uncertainty there is moving forward for those who have not contracted their calves. It is Labor Day and we know that as farmers and ranchers, no matter the income, the work is still the same. We know that you see no holidays because no matter what day it is, the work still has to get done. We see you laboring on Labor Day to make sure you don’t fall behind and we appreciate you. Each and every one of you is so important.
